Valve Cover Replacement on 2013 X5 w/ n55 engine

Hello All:

I am in the middle of replacing the valve cover gasket on a 2013 x5 with a 2014 style n55. I can't lift the cam cover high enough to clear the pieces inside the engine because the cast metal attachment point for the two cross braces hangs down too far. It's off by less than a 1/4 inch, but it just won't do it. Any ideas?
