I've read a bunch of things about tucking the bumper and the dangers of it/ how messy it is, but i was wondering if anyone has tried to just fabricate a new bracket for the bumper to mount to instead of the shock. Was thinking about making 2 plates with counter bores to mount a rod or block that has two threaded holes on each end to connect the plates. The middle block could be whatever length you want to make it for how much you want the bumper to stick out. Seems easy to whip up and avoids possible pneumonia and oil spraying everywhere. Not sure if there was something more complicated that i was missing because i feel like this would be such a simple thing for somebody to have already thought of.

On second thought the solid mounting would probably cause more damage to the car, but a drilled shock isnt really doing anything anyways.

you can buy set back blocks on ebay.
I drilled them once on a car a long time ago. I put a rag over it and drilled and it didn't make a mess or anything crazy. the bumper pushed back and everything but after I was done, I regretted it. and luckily I did not on my recent 86 because some dude hit me and it destroyed his car and just broke a marker lens on mine.
No e30s again.
