E32/E34 fuel door hinge replacement options

Does anyone make an improved, more durable fuel door hinge? I am tired of having to shell out $30 every few years to replace it due to the plastic getting brittle and breaking. Haven't tried the cheaper URO or MTC options but can't imagine they would last longer than the OE one.

Maybe someone has come up with a better design that can be 3D printed?

Suck it up and buy the OE. It lasted 20 years, right?
The voice of experience says Uro and others a waste of time, money and materials. You'll be lucky to get one on before it breaks.

No I have replaced it twice in <10 years. OE one both times.

They can be had for under $4 these days from aliexpress/ebay. Obviously cheap chinese parts but for that price you could replace it every year lol. It's an easy DIY.

I paid $11 for a vaico brand one that's not given me any trouble for 2 years so far.
They seem to have gone up in price to $16 though https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ts-51171928197

It was made in china so maybe the $4 ones mentioned would not be too bad either.

beats me. I've never had one break on me but have acquired several cars in need over the years. The Uro, etc. couldn't even be installed without fiddling or breaking.
Maybe the Bavarians are outsourcing the replacements these days.

I've had pretty good luck with the Urö fuel door hinges, I've installed them on all of the E34's that I've owned, and on an E32 as well. Sometimes they require a little finessing to install, but I've never broken one while installing it. They seem to last a few years, even in the Arizona heat.
