How much offset do i need to have the wheels about half of an inch in from the fender?

From or past? If by from you mean inwards, just measure how much or less you need relative to your stock wheels now. I believe stock rears are around 45mm. But if you’re looking at different wheel widths then the offset will change. Best to use one of those online offset calculators.
