E60 exhaust question(s)

Hello!

I’m new to the Bimmer life, picked up an 06 530i about a month ago. I’m compiling a list of things I want to do to it and had some questions about exhaust options.

I’m no longer a high school kid driving a Honda who wants the loudest, fart-canniest exhaust I can find, where’s the sophistication in that? Haha

I am debating back and forth on a few different scenarios:
1. Just leave it alone (ha!)
2. Upgrade the header, leave the mid pipe and muffler stock
3. Upgrade the muffler, but with something that is quiet when cruising but sounds good when you get on the throttle.

My question pertains to the 3rd scenario: what mufflers are out there that meet those parameters? If there are none, I’ll probably just keep the muffler stock, as I don’t want the monotonous drone of a loud exhaust/muffler resonating in the cabin when I’m just cruising.

BMW exhausts are very good. I'd spend money elsewhere personally. I'm debating cutting off my rear mufflers and fitting a single muffler with 4.5" in/out to cope with the TT's output. Debating mind you, and it's been a long debate.

If you must tinker, look for a cat-back or axl-back system and bolt it on.
