I've got a bad injector on Cylinder #6. I checked to see what index it was so I could just replace that one bad injector, but they are different..
Cylinder #1 and #6 are an Index 7 and
Cylinder #2-#5 are index 8
Should I get another Index 7 for the Cylinder# 6 misfire or should I go a different route? Thanks
I think now there up to 13, so those are all old, I don't think you have a choice you will get the most current one and BMW recommends that if there old numbers, to replace 3 as the minumin
Current is Index 12 to my knowledge. (just bought and installed)
Bank 1 and Bank 2 should each have the same index, so when you configure the banks, the whole bank will match.
I forget at this time, but I believe it's ill advised to mix 11+ with older. I'd have to read up again to be sure.
I'm not certain of criticality between Index 7 and 8 in the same bank.
Myself, I run Index 8 and Cyl 1, 2 and 3. Then Index 7 in 4, 5 & 6.
Since you have 1 bad Index 7 and one remaining, it makes sense to move all to Index 8, or go new, to Index 12.
Index 7 & 8 will likely start leaking when the engine is off, due to age. Two or 3 of my 6 were leaking. I replaced all with Index 12, for $1900 CAD. Pricey.
If interested in buying a couple of my Index 8 that didn't leak, let me know. (PM only)
Note: All old hardware runs the risk of imminent failure. 2008 was a long time ago.
if the engine has a misfire on cylinder 1, replace injectors for cylinders 1-3 if those injectors are not already index 11 or higher.
If the injectors on that bank are already index 11 or higher, only replace the injector on the faulty cylinder.
