Improved sound at start-up?

Recently sold my 07 530xiT (manual transmission) and purchased a '15 535i with m-sport. There's a lot I miss about the old car... trying to figure out how to make the 535i feel a bit more sports oriented. One of the things that annoys me is the lack of personality at startup. I am considering an exhaust change (lots of other threads on that topic) but am also wondering if a new chip would change the engine sound at start-up?

Any ideas?

The flash tune I have on my 550i has Cold Start delete, so basically on start-up it idles normally instead of revving the engine to heat up the Cats, coolant, and whatever else needs to be warmed. I found that revving the engine on startup is quite loud and annoying. My car is garaged and so it's not such a requirement.

Thanks - Mine is also in the garage... Maybe the 550 sounds a bit better? For a comparison, my friend's 2016 911 4s that I kept in my garage for a few months this summer has the nicest little growl when you start it up - the 535 sounds more like a toyota.

I am open to other ideas as about how to add a little more "character"... any recommendations?

I did this to my F25 M-Sport, best mod ever and it’s free ! I highly suggest doing this, sounds absolutely perfect! not too loud but loud enough for me.

Did a little more research - looks like the 535 does not have the exhaust valve

My 535i has the Performance exhaust and it now sounds similar to a 1M or something like that during a cold start-up...

Very exciting sound, but sometimes a bit loud when some neighbour is in the parking...
