I would agree on that glass removal part

I finally took on the job of painting the front bumper and headlight trim in my car. Seriously, it is the first thing that I have "painted" since probably middle school, but I wasn't about to pay a body shop $500+ to do it. I was so worried I would ruin something during every step of the process but I think it turned out pretty good! I took pictures of the whole process here:

just finished installing a new old stock type back window sunshade works very nicely quietly and smooth with a push of the button; also, finished installing new rear quarter sunshades a couple of days ago with the new clip parts update modification, all is good now with the sunshades all5 of them working perfectly feels great to have it all up and running.....
Paint! Having hopefully solved the rust bubbles sitting under the boot lid I have to finish the edge that was hidden by the wall!

Working sun shade install this morning before work.

...oh the updated part I sort of made that up, but the clips that just fit like a glove are the same ones that hold the rear window left and right door larger sunshades up the ones on the top of the door sill, found like 2 for $13 off ebay (bought 6 of them) vs. the ones that they actually sell for the new system that are priced at around +$100 on the parts sites for 2 of them, I removed the trim and screwed them in just like factory, the screws heads have to be ground very flat 0.090" there is next to no space behind the trim pieces I used m4-0.75 machine screws I just used the existing mount holes in the trim pieces, I also used some 180 grit sandpaper in a coffee cup to set the shape and ran the bottom edge of the clips back and forth to achieve the best arc to match up with the trim pieces arc in that area.....
- - - Updated - - -
the old quarter window sunshades had the hook and latch then the new quarter window sunshades have it reversed... so trim pieces or sunshades I chose to have sunshades.....
Replaced the sunroof module and motor. The old one likely shorted out from the windscreen drain issues. Nice to be able to open and close it with one button push vice the half-inch movements of before.
Developing a “punch list” to get done before May. Should be easy enough but finding the time with kids activities... In no particular order:
1) sunroof gasket
2) trunk gasket
3) redye leather
4) redye plastics
5) replace left headlight washer
6) polish chrome/aluminum trim inside and out
7) left rear window regulator
8) left rear quarter shade
9) paint repair and correction
10) replace floor mats
11) polish glass
12) polish headlights and tail lights
13) replace fog lights
14) left rear shade
15) right rear shade
16) detail engine bay
17) detail passenger compartment
18) replace headliner
19) replace SAS Y-pipe
20) ????

8-year Anniversary and she's back and with some good news too!
Fresh MOT ( until 1st of March 2022 )
Left front spring replaced, car feels soft again without any clunking noises when driving over bumps.
Oil filter including oil change, and all the other filters regarding driving security and easier MOT passing.
And my mechanic even gave them fog lights some black spray paint for apparently easier MOT passing..
I mean, now i have an excuse to buy 2 new fog light lenses. Going to post that too somewhere in march i believe.

Your current situation is not your final destination
Ah well, a day after the anniversary the rear shock decided to almost break entirely. So got me now 2 brand new KYB shock absorbers and 2 new KYB springs, hopefully they are going to be good but i think everythings going to be an improvement in which state the car is right now..so
Started taking the interiour apart and ready for taking the coilovers out. Later today i will try to manage taking the broken side out for now, depending of my time of course. We'll see how that will go, shouldnt be that hard since last october my mechanic replaced them with used ones.
New parts ( 2nd spring still packaged ) :

Finally got my 01 back running correctly, and cleaned her up for now will be doing paint touch-up and correction hopefully this summer.

Parked it next my newly acquired 02 Imola X5 4.6iS Dinan S2!![]()
Replaced the center link, idler arm, tie rod ends. The idler arm bushing was toast, bought a new arm and didn’t feel like pressing in a new bushing. Now for an alignment.
