Hello, I have a 2011 535i xDrive. For a while now it has been slow cranking as if the battery is near dead. I replaced the battery 2 months ago but no change. I have read various posts that the culprit could be the engine ground cable and/or the exhaust system ground cable. It might also be an issue with the starter but it is cheaper to try replacing the ground cables first. Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, how did you resolve the problem? Can someone tell me the location of the ground cables?
had the same issue about 8 weeks ago. when i purchased the car it was already doing it. at first i thought a weak battery. as ista showed a code for a battery, but when i tested the battert it was good. but i replaced it with an oem bmw battery. and registered it to the car. still had the same slow start. then one day it just wouldn't start, glad it was in the driveway! Turned out to be the starter. these starters are notorious for just dying. its the same starter in my sons e90. that i just replaced last winter. anyway it was around $200 with lifetime warranty. new not refurbished bosch which is oem. got it in and started just under 2 hrs. not to difficult. the hard part is getting the intake off.
2002 525i
Yup the start I bet
