    M60B40 Vortech v2 Compressor setup guide/Help

Hi Guys i have an e34 540i and i have bought Vortech V2 supercharger kit, it was previously used on mustang with 4.6 engine, so i have got supercharger blow off and water cooled air intercooler. Here is a picture:

    20191113_025918.jpg20191113_025923.jpg20191113_025927.jpg20191113_025948.jpg

First what i need it is a compressor mounting bracket, than injectors, fuel pump and boost pressure gauge.
I have found everything except Compressor mounting bracket can you help me with it? or if someone has already this setup please guide me how to do it right.

    Thank you

Hey. Brackets will be the hard thing to source. Prob the best bet will be to scan one that’s available locally with a willing participant. I guess the setup will depend on how effective the intercooler is.

I run 16psi on mine with no problems at all runs most days, it’s been stable for over 12 months now.
Here is a spec for mine
    - 60 lb/hr injectors
    - adjustable fuel pressure regulator (2.8 bar 93aki 4.0bar E85)
    - Walbro 525 fuel pump with upgraded wiring thickness
    - standard 404 ecu
    - Bosch Porsche gt2 turbo maf (996 model) with adjustable potentiometer
    - 8 rib belt system
    - turbosmart 25mm
    - 450x300 front mount IC

Matt Gresham here in Australia has a copy of my chip both with 7250 and 7500rpm redline so it would be easy to get a copy. I’d definetly do the 8 rib belt to minimise any slip. The standard ESS 6 rib pulley is 140mm dia. I’ve got a drawing of a 152mm dia 8 rib crank pulley if u want it. As far as a blow off valve is concerned if going more than 5psi u should run one. I also run a wastegate for low boost 7psi mainly for wet conditions.

You will require some effort and some serious hose clamping to and swagged ends on the high pressure pipework if u turn up the boost a little. It’s a lot more work than what u think to get everything running well, even extols like the lsd diff etc nowadays are getting expensive

thank you man for info, i want to just make +100 HP gain, as i know it can be released about witch 0.5-0.6 bar boost without touching engine.first of all i need this mounting bracket, other than is just replacing parts such as injectors, Fuel pump, maybe will need high power ignition coils and spark plug's. i will update this thread. thank you again it was really helpful.

Been in this position and would do a lot of things different if i had another go at it. Tuning was one of the biggest hurdles for me. At the time, Miller was one avenue. Looks like they still make the WAR chip, so you can try giving them a call. I ended up using DUDMD's help in the chip department. I too ran a potentiometer in the signal wire from the MAF and it worked OK. Sound like Gaz has an option for you too.

Second biggest hurdle was the bracket. I started with a vortech kit made for a v6 mustang, so had to make my own bracket. If trying to retain AC, this was difficult, but i think if i had another go at it after having a lot more fab experience, i think it would go easier these days. I ran a Dinan crank pulley and went 6-rib. My static tensioner sucked, so it kept spitting belts. At the time the car was my only vehicle so it came off and went in a box. Ended up selling it pretty cheaply, but wish i still had it.

Find the S/C thread, theres a lot of info in there. Gaz is the guy to talk to, so find yourself lucky for his input above.

Thank you man for info, for a chip tuning i have a guy here and hope he will make it, he had chipped my car for N/A engine and it had 20WHP gain before was 250 WHP and now it is 270 WHP, i am now searching part's such as fuel pump (for a cheep variant is Bosch 044), injectors will be from Subaru turbo engine yellow one it have 550 CC. the main problem is now to make/buy supercharger mounting bracket, i am trying to find this part but no success, if someone have it, they are selling a complete compressor setup.

Right, i spoke with anyone i could think of; Dinan, ESS, etc. Nobody would sell the bracket separately or didnt have it available at all. Good luck, but be prepared to make it yourself.

the bracket is always going to be the difficult item to re-produce. Mine is modified from the original ESS setup including some strengthening beams to help with the forwards/backwards movements. I'm really reluctant to remove it an copy it as Ive got the belt angles perfect in dynamic mode where they don't make any noise and no slip. If I ever need to remove it i'll get it scanned and copied for the greater good of the E34 community.

    Thats mighty nice of you!

I had bracket flex issues with mine. I did use a static tensioner, which i felt had led to a bunch of my belt tossing issues, but i know the bracket flexed a bit too. I eventually got tired of it tossing belts and removed the supercharger. It was my daily, after all!

Since bracket upgrade, 8pk pulleys, and dynamic alignment not as much as a squeak from the belt at 16psi for over 12 months
