Good day!
I have a 2011 E93 with 89k miles. At 53k miles in 2016 I upgraded it to Dinan Stage 2. At 79k miles in 2018 I upgraded to Dinan Stage 3. It has the corresponding intercooler/exhaust/oil cooler. Also, at 77k miles the original charge pipe broke and I replaced it with the Active Autowerke aluminum pipe.
Recently it started leaking oil and it seemed to exhibit some throttle lag. It turns out the main seals were leaking, and after having them repaired I got advice from the BMW tech that this level of tuning would be distressing the seals with such a high level of boost.
My question for the forum is whether I can expect this type of issue to recur in a relatively short amount of time, or is it just as likely to have been related to the overall age and mileage of the engine. Does Dinan stage 3 tuning on the N55 have a history of shortening engine seal life this way? If so, how dramatically? Can I expect another 50k miles on new seals, at least?
The tech said the valve covers and other leak candidate parts looked ok.
I cannot imagine that the main (crankshaft) engine seals would be affected by any tune.
It might be possible for a bad PCV/CCV to cause such problems...
Yep
Are you gonna eat that?
