    Presentation from Spain with a 90s 750 E32

    Hi Everyone,

I dont know if its the correct place for a formal presentation, if its not, please guide me

Thanks to all for the complete enciclopedia in the forum, its very very usefull.

I have purchased last year a BMW 750 e32 in very good condition with a very rare extras like Hartge bumpers (now Im looking for the Hartge original rims). It was for the German Market and was imported to Spain in 2000. Im the third owner.

Now Im in troubble with (reading all your post, right now )

    - ABS light (the sistems doesnt work): Maybe the sensor or maybe the module?
    - Check control: It doesnt work, when I press the buttons nothing happens. Maybe the CCM or the contacts in the dash?
    - Problem with the wheel of the rear sunshade motor

This week, I will put a post specifically for all the problems...

    Thanks in advance!!

    Welcome to the forum, Blasing,
pls add production month and year to your profile, then you do not need to add this info in every post, also if i or iL version.
As for the ABS, translate this testing method to Spanish language and check it: ABS-Sensoren einfach und schnell prfen.
Man sollte so vorgehen:
(transparente Isolierung)
    ---------------------------------------------
Check control: Use a flash light and shine on it in an angle, if you then see numbers, bulbs defective.
Bottons pressing and nothing happens: disassemble the cluster and clean the contact area where the button is pushed, maybe oxidized, or has to be resoldered.
Electric sunshade gear problem: most probably the toothed wheel is damaged, the original is very soft and the teeth disaapear in one area, as the switch off is delayed by increasing amps. I have a steel toothed wheel for the electric sunshade and enforcement bushes for sale, see the E32 classifieds section, there are also the repair instructions.

    And now the problems:

    1. ABS: Ok Shogun, I will start from there. Its the biggest problem I have at the moment. The ABS really dont work cause I have tried to break hard and the sistem doesent work at all.

    2. Check Control: Ok, I will start from there too. I have a replacement for the CCM, but its more common the problem with the cluster than the CCM?

    3. Here is my wheel. Its the problem you commented?

yes, that is the typical damage on the large toothed wheel, there are 2 ways to repair it, difficult method https://www.evansweb.info/2003/01/18...-blind-repair/ or get a steel toothed wheel from me, see E32 classifieds section.
First fix the ABS and the cluster problem, more important than the sunshade in winter now.
The check control problem is a problem of the cluster, not the CCM module. Defective CCM module often shows wrong faults, or faults which cannot exist, as the car does not have such feature.
In Europe also the cars with electric headlight aim motors have CCM problems, but that is a problem of the old aim motors. Read this https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...ns-do-not-work

In case the ABS sensors are found o.k., then it gets more expensive, either the ABS unit or the ABS control unit. But there are some companies which repair these ABS units like BBA-reman and the control units are available used.
ABS/ASC blink codes http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/1260645/ or find a shop with a good fault code reader for these old systems.

Hi! related with the main problem (ABS), a previous step is try to connect the car to the diagnosys machine follow the actions my mechanic is doing. He says it could be interesting for detect directly wich is the problem (OHM test for sensors of the wheels following your instructions Shogun or going to the ABS module)....but...he says he cant connect the car with the machine. He can connect correctly but only engine failures are shown, no others like ABS or others. Can you help me with this first step?

By the way, these are the failures shown on the system. Are they important? where can I get the codes list for the e32?

    Thanks in advance

fault code 201 = lambda regulation https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...Regulator-stop that you have to fix
63 could be torque converter lock up clutch. That comes quite often, I would ignore it https://www.endtuning.com/bmwcodes.html
But for your problem that you cannot read fault codes from the ABS module or cannot connect, a software expert has to chime in.

Thanks again. Sensors checked directly in the wheels (cause I cant do the tutorial in with the ohm meter and the ecu pin tray because my tray have 3 row of pins not 2, and the numbers do not correspond with the tutorial) and the result is: 1000 Ohm, 1005 Ohm, 900 Ohm and 910 Ohm....so the sensor are OK.

Wich is the next step? the ABS ecu or the ABS Unit?

By the way, today the center lock fail a little bit. Acting with the key in the drivers door, It closes all the doors but open all the doors except the driver door....

    Thanks a lot!!

well, that is now a gamble, I would try to get a used ABS ECU and test it as that is easier, unless you find someone which has a fault code tool which can test the ABS unit and the ABS ECU.
Door lock might need new grease http://bmwe32.masscom.net/sean750/do...kMechanism.htm
    and/or new plastic grommets https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...light=grommets

Perfect, its what I'm going to do. Here in Spain there are some ECU about 50...

Why muy plug has 3 rows of pins and not 2?

About the lock...a new entry in the TO DO list...😉

    Thanks a lot!!

That probably depends what module your car has, based on production month/year
    ABS
    ABS/ASC
    ABS/ASC+T
you need exactly the same part numbers shown on the sticker on the unit, example only: ABS/ASC CONTROL UNIT , (+) Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) , (+) Automatic Stability Control (ASC)

By the way, I checked too, that there is no response (nothing happens and no light goes on) when I press the ASC button. I dont know in wich conditions it will work but I think the light must light in the cluster when I press the button and the ASC goes off, correct?

It could be the same problem of the ABS? Perhaps fixing up the main problem with the ABS the ASC return to work...

Tomorrow I will pick up the new ECU.

    Thanks!!

In case the ABS/ASC unit is defective, BBA Reman repairs them, they also have a shop in Spain http://www.bba-reman.com/es/index.aspx
Check the bulb in the ASC button, if that works.

I got a new ECU, this weekend, first test!

By the way, I saw a new cluster , if I can't fix the problems with the contacts.

Its plug and play? What happens with my real km? The new has less, but I want mines 😉😉

production year 10/1990 should have a white back plate cluster http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/299960/299960.html
If you can get another white backplate cluster, then just swop the code plug from old to new cluster and all data will remain the same. The code plug of a blue back plate cluster will not fit into a white backplate cluster.

No luck with the ABS ECU....

Now Im trying my last option....the ABS module...any advice? bleeded of system, etc... what kind of brake fluid its needed?

I think the pentosin 7.1 is only for the suspension and a normal brake fluid for the brake system filling the brake fluid bottle...

    Thanks!

Pentosin is for hydraulic suspension and for your 750 also for the H31 brake booster system and for the power steering, see here the diagram I posted in post #5 https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...hing-procedure
Brake booster and brake master do not use the same fluid. Brake fluid and Pentosin never mix, 2 different systems http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3...browse/brakes/ Brake Fluid is a DOT 4 brake fluid

Thanks for the advice about the suspension

Now the car is in the mechanic shop, trying to fix de abs problem with a new ABS module (the new ECU dont work, so second chance )

In paralel Im trying to fix the problem with the cluster and the CC button washing the gold contacts as you said posts ago. I tried to pull out the cluster without removing the wheeldrive and it was impossible today, but tomorrow, I will reach the objective!

Following the photos, my cluster have the blue back plate (not white) with 8 350 524 9 as reference:

    - With this reference searching in google it seems are a few models with 260km/h limit and not 280km/h like all 750. Its possible?
    - It seems there is no code plug where it shoud be or its okey? (following the photos)
    - Can I change it for a new cluster (same model or reference) directly conserving my kilometers, data, etc...? its possible with my cluster model?

    Thanks a lot, like always

In the backplate on your pictures you can see the chip. On that is usually the VIN number, compare the VIN on the chip with the car VIN. Example here http://www.exx.se/maintenance/instru...34/index.shtml
so if you find a cluster which has the same speed indication and same tank size, you can swop the chip from the old cluster to the new one. Probably you need one from an 750.
In the first picture the brown housing: that was only used for the chip from the beginning of E32 production up to 02/89 with grey backplate. Blue and white backplate have the chip in the back of the cluster.
