    2012 N20 - CEL - Help Please

    Hi!

Hope this is the right place to ask for help. . . I'm headed to Seattle from Dallas and my car has been a total cluster the last month. . . Any assistance is much appreciated. Here's an order of the issues:

    1. Installed CAI - awesome "swoosh" sound - car ran great.
    2. Installed exhaust - no issues.
    3. Installed BootMod3 Stage 1 tune. Car ran great.
    4. Noticed CAI "swoosh" sound stopped. Slight loss in power.
    5. Check engine light came on, pulled into AutoZone and they pulled p0440.
    6. Next day my rear tire blew on the way to the airport. Towed the car, put two new tires on, then I got the Drive Train Malfunction notice on the screen.
    7. Checked the tires - no issue with bolts or alignment.
    8. Pulled the following codes via BootMod3:
    • Low Boost (forgot the actual code)

    9. Installed a new boost solenoid and charge pipe - no obvious leak in OEM charge pipe. Cleared codes.
    10. CEL returned and Drive Train Malfunction after a few miles - still lag in power and no audible CAI sound.
    11. CEL returned - pulled the following via BootMod3:
    • Climate Control - 801228 - Reduce Blower Power
    • ICM - 480134 - Direction of travel uncertain
    • Front Electronics - 804033 - ZSG Game Protection, 8041A8 - Welcome Light Retry Lock Active
    • DME - 120308 - Boost Pressure Regulation, pressure too low, 191C02 - No Description, 118001 - Mixture Control; too lean, 108A01 - Charge Air Temperature; Short Circuit to Positive

    12. Checked everything again, reset CEL, CEL returned with now only one code: 191C02.

Any assistance is much appreciated. I've reached the conclusion I'm lost. I suspect it may be something with the CAI; it sounded great and ever since it stopped making that awesome sound the car has devolved into a hot mess. . .

I leave for Seattle in a few days and I'm afraid to leave until this is all resolved. Any suggestions?

    Best,

    -K

Return the vehicle to stock condition and see if you still have issues.

You may have two unrelated problems.
First - For the engine I would first return to a stock tune, since it sounds like the BootMod3 tune may be bad. If that doesn't work I would then also remove the new CAI. It may be just an installation issue with the sealing, or a loose wire, but check everything. Also check for other other wiring was disconnected to get clearance for the swap, but then not properly reconnected. There are sensors in the intake and something may be getting a bad reading. The exhaust is a less likely problem unless they left an O2 sensor disconnected or air is leaking and throwing off the AFR readings.
Second - the blown tire may have mangled a sensor on the power train. I would inspect everything for damage to wiring or broken components. I would also do a reset on the computer to see if you can clear the powertrain malfunction codes.
