I tried asking at a BMW dealership but they blew me off like it wasn't their job to know what kind of engines their cars have. I really like the 535ix wagons but they are all pushing 10 years old and I'd really like something newer.
I am looking at something like a 330i (E91 body) but they only have the 2L I4. IDK if a N55 or N58 would drop into one of these, I'd really like to maybe do an engine swap but since they are soo new. IDK if the M3 was made in a wagon, I'd be interested in that.
Can anyone tell me what models and years wagons were brought to the US? Also, is it possible to import some cars from Canada that are wagons that weren't released in the states?
Swap an N54 or N55 or B58 into a 3 series wagon if you want a project. I think it would be a great car. None in the US so you must build one. Even if they were sold in Canada, I don’t think you can legally import a car that was not certified for sale in the US until it is 25 years old.
People have done this swap. Google. People have also done S65 swaps from 08-13 M3. I have an E61 535xi wagon and an 08M3. I think I’d prefer a modded N54/55 for a daily driver wagon.
If you have $50-70k, a used ~2015 Mercedes E63 AMG wagon could be fun and practical.
I just purchased a 6MT e91 & commissioned seller to swap in an N55 engine. Looking for donor 335i now. This should be interesting!

Well, although this thread is long dead, FWIW, the N55 engine swap into my 2010 E91 6MT went great. Performance is outstanding. With engine upgrade & suspension mods, this is pretty darn close to the M-wagon we are denied here in the US.
