Hi:
Wondering if anyone's tried fitting more modern injection that's fully tunable/programmable to an S38. As I sit back and survey what my next project car might be, I keep returning to an E34 faux-5 Dad-wagon with an S38, manual, M5 or equivalent aftermarket susp. And if I go to the trouble of doing this nutty thing, thought it might be smart to update the software part of the engine equation in the search for better part-throttle performance and better fuel economy at the same time, since these engines gulp fuel pretty wantonly. (I've have many BMWs prior to this; 2002s, E28 M5s, the last being an E61 wagon.)
Or if anyone knows of a specialist who might have done this sort of thing, toss me a reply if you would.
Thanks!
I looked thoroughly into this, we have a E34 M5 in here that also may or may not have MAF issues and the replacement cost of the MAF alone would be a good reason to ditch the OEM Motronic.
The options, assuming you have the B36 not the coil packed B38, are either getting a WAR chip from Miller or use some of the PnP standalones out there. Here are a few:

There was another guy in Germany who was selling a plug and play standalone i forgot his site.
