Hey all, I'm looking to get my first BMW! I'm set on the X3, just unsure about which one to get. I test drove a 2019 30i and really enjoyed it (first time driving a bmw). I was almost set on the 30i but I noticed that the last generation also has a nice looking exterior, and the interior is fairly similar. Additionally it has an option for the 35i V6 which I've heard is "bulletproof". The power of the 30i is sufficient, but more is better, right? I plan to keep this car for 3-5 years and drive about 20k miles a year so I would likely opt for an extended warranty. I can do most of my own maintenance and repairs but since I drive so much it would be nice to have the loaner car as an option if there are any major issues down the road. The market seems to be very saturated with 2019 loaner 30i's for high 30 to low $40k with less than 5000 miles, non CPO. I've looked at countless threads on this forum about loaner cars and it seems like many people have had good luck. CPO 2017 35i's are priced @ low to mid $30k with <30,000 miles so I would break the 50k mile factory warranty within the first yearish and need to extend the warranty soon. I don't think the 30i has any tech options I would want that the 35i doesn't offer.
Which would you recommend given the amount of miles I drive and length of time I would keep the car? How is the reliability of the 35i vs the new 30i (i know it hasn't been out for long)?
Cheers
The 35i is a turbo inline 6 not a V6 and I would recommend it over the 30i unless MPG is critical to you.
