05 x3 triad of lights still on after new actuator & t case fluid

So I have a new actuator gear, a new actuator motor, a fresh t case fluid change (bmw tf 0870) and I tried to manually turn the t case gear while actuator was off...it did not turn or spin freely. I still have the triad of lights on...they all come on about 2 minutes after I leave my house. What else could trigger all 3? I have functional awd I was turning all 4 tires on a snowy incline. I’m stumped...

Gotcha...same here,,, im experencing the same thing...heres my speculation:
Because we both tried to turn the gear with our hand and that we replaced the part with a new one....we are now in need of the dealer's computer for re-calibration to the new part.
The car drives fine...no other lights...i don't like it either!

I’m actually beginning to see signs that it’s abs related that’s responsible for my lights. The rear axle shafts have a reluctor ring on them and the abs/wheel speed sensors are positioned to sense this as it spins. The axle shaft rusts over time and deforms/expands/dirties up this reluctor ring. When the sensor gets false/missing readings it throws the whole DSC system into confusion and supposedly can also trigger the triad of lights. I found contact marks on one of the rear sensors so I ordered reluctor rings and will do a full rear service when they come in. This includes cleaning the surface under the sensors, R&R of the reluctor rings on both sides and fully cleaning up the ends of the axles where these rings are seated. I’ll post my progress and any updates once it’s back together.

Or visit a local BMW shop so they can diagnosis it correctly

So an update to my situation...solved.

The rear cv shafts on my x3 had rusted under the reluctor rings...the reluctor rings deformed from this rust causing the wheel speed sensors to intermittently lose correct Hall effect signal voltage. The DSC somehow takes this interruption and triggers the abs/brake/4x4 light.

I replaced the reluctor ring on the driver side axle but the pass side axle was too damaged due to removal and rust, so that axle was replaced completely.

I’ve seen lots of threads where these lights were on/triggered due to a stripped transfer cause actuator (servo motor) gear. I hope this information about an alternative cause will help someone else out there chasing the issue.

I highly recommend the foxwell nt510 or similar scanner to assist in pin pointing the potential culprit.
