I went to change spark plugs today and accidentally reversed wire 3 and 4 and car backfired wouldn't start. I quickly realized what happened reversed them, the car started up and idled high and then came down and stalled. I put in the original plugs and same rough idle, checked all vacuum lines all fine then test drove the car, it runs like it did except the idle is rough. Did the sensor plate get moved somehow ? I didn't have my meter to check the voltage reading as I ran out of time today. I disconnected the 02 sensor and the car died. That is something new, maybe I need to adjust the air flow sensor plate (CO) screw tomorrow. Any Ideas?
Check very carefully to see if the rubber boot got torn or blown off the AFM. If it comes loose even a little, you'll get those symptoms.
+1 for the rubber boot under the intake.
The #9 in this realoem picture can pop off from back fire too...
