    Nice projects. On paper the s54b32 does not work due to bore to stroke ratio but it’s a proven engine with good power.

    Yes that is exact what std 3.8 makes.

    It was not easy to achieve this out of
    stock bottom, head, itb. Also the CR on
    CAT version is 9:8 and not really great for
    power but still I was able to manage the goal.

    Proper concept always works well.

    You would be surprised what level of power the S54 engine make
    in NA form. Rod ratio is not great at 1.52 but that does not affect
    the power.

    Pip Barker gets 420hp out of the M88/3 so if you have the coin there is still room to increase hp.

    Pip Barcker's M88 JPS engine is not streetable at all for various reason.
    Also the engine sees only race fuel, critical per say. No Hi octane
    gas no power...

    Again, my Task is not all out Race-Engine here. The task is to get max power
    with "Bolt-Ons". I am retaining the Stock Pistons/Ring, Stock Rods, Stock CR,
    Stock Small S38/M88 head ports, Stock Valves all of that put on 91 Pump Fuel
    were you can pick up your family and do cross country without to worry finding
    race fuel at premium price.

    I do get different Tasks all the time.

    Hi,


    Oil pan baffle is a must when using M50 oil pan, this is important upgrade
    to avoid oil starvation on long corners.

    Any particular brand of baffleyou would recommend?

    I have an M50 pan but I'd also like to look at modifying the s54 pan to use in the e24 I have.

    Hi,

    Get Achilies this is what I used, very good plate.

    In order to use S54 oil pan in E24 it will require massive amount of work.
    I can do it no problem, if customer wants to spend the money.

    M50 set up is good enough.

    I have placed the engine as far back as possible so that the
    engine weight is placed towards the back for weight bias, its
    not a lot of gain to be had but don't forget "Every little helps"

    Engine to fire wall has a credit card clearance...and with the
    firmer engine and tranny mounts its not going anywhere.

    I also lowered the engine by ~1' inch for CG purposes.

    What brand of header did you use?

    Anri, I am planning to use the E28Goodies engine mounts for my conversion that will make it easier for me verses having to fabricate mounts from scratch.

    Hi,

    Are you still installing S52 ? I have not tried any of the engine
    brackets offered so I can not be giving any feedback..

    All E24s do have that vertical sort of brace that gives strenght
    to the shock tower.

    For stock cams you don't need the coating. Its very expensive..

    I have an S54 and 6 spd to install in my 6. I will do a light rebuild of engine and plan to run it with stock components. I have an M50 oil pan that will need the baffle but I would like to modify the S54 pan in the future to use the two pickups. Here's my project!

    Great that you moved from S52 to S54. S52 is not a bad engine but my
    brain knowing the S54 design I will never be able to live with S52...

    When you ready for tuning let me know, we can do remotely.


    I know the Dual pump design is superior to the single pump but trust me
    for what you will be using your car for, you will never reach the limit. A good baffle
    and a little trick for you 250ml top over on the dip stick so that ones the
    engine is running those 250ml will stay constant in the valve train and you
    will retain full oil inside the pan.

    6 spd is the way to go. Very little weight added over the 5 spd but the freeway
    speed is so much better and one can play with diff ratios per individual linking
    as opposite on the 5spd there are limitations because 5th is 1:1..

    I over achieved with my power goal I had in mind.

    The goal was 340RWHP and ended being 354RWHP.

    I put a lot effort and I had a lot challenges to get to that
    number.


    354rwhp with 14% drive train loss this is 400BHP or so
    called Crankshaft power or flywheel hp.

    255RWTQ achieved.

    This is all SAE measuring not DiN. For those who do not
    know the difference. DIN hp is the European measuring
    tape for HP.

    US is SAE. SAE is lower number than the DIN.

    If convert the archived 400BHP SAE to DIN it will be more
    like 418-420BHP.


    The sound of the Carbon Fibre CSL air box is absolute
    music specially when the revs pass 5000rpm and the cam
    timing changes for the higher rpm's the screaming noise and
    metallic sound is absolute amazing.

    I took a short drive and I must say its absolute amazing
    engine dynamics and throttle response.
