Looking for manual daily driver... 850 vs importing 840

Hello all

I am a dude who doesn't commute to work daily but does do a decent number of miles per year. In the past I drove an aircooled 911 daily but sold it when it got to be too valuable. Since then I've been driving an E30 325i which I love, but I can't help gander at other fun cars. Anything I drive has to be manual and I always shirked away from the complexity and weight of the 850i manual. I recently thought about importing an 840ci manual from europe.

Wonder if anyone has done this and or converted a USA car and if anyone cares to share experience about owning these cars.


I do all my own work including engine rebuilds, electrics etc. Only thing I don't do is paint.

840i with a manual is pretty rare and expensive in Europe. The cheapest one I see on the market now is 23.000€ and it's a turd.
