ET / Offset on 19" wheels

Is anyone running 19s and what offset they are running?

I had a set of refinished MKs which I had to sell due to my Brembo Brake Big Brakes (per Dragon850 off of Porcshe) due to it not clearing them.

I have a set of Hartge Classics on my car in 19s and they clear the brakes just fine.

I am trying to stay as close as below MK Motorsport specs, except the the wheel diameter. I am having custom wheels built so room for error is minimum.

    9.5x18 Front 3" lip and 5mm ET
11x18 Rear with in excess of 4" lip and 21mm ET

    Well, more info here:

    https://www.meeknet.co.uk/e31/Timms_..._tyre_page.htm

The ET of 5 on the fronts will probably push them away from the ideal - but only being 9.5J will help

Thank you for the reply, would be so kind and let me know what width you are running for the front and rear and sizes of the tire?

    Hello Timm,

I was hoping you were going to chime in. I have used your wonderful site (like many other) to try to figure it out. MKs were the spec I mentioned:

    9.5x18 Front 3" lip and 5mm ET
11x18 Rear with in excess of 4" lip and 21mm ET

The issue is I don't know if that changes things if I go to 19s. The easiest option is to follow what MK Motorsport did with 18s, but unfortunately they do not clear Brembos in 18s and I am pretty sure they will with 19s.....

Using your site, now I know what tire parameter I am going to use for front and rears. 295s in rear with 11 wide wheels, and 255 or 265s for the front.

Oh, I thought you were running 19s. I am looking specifically for 19 specs ET and Tire size.

Thank you though. I ran 18X245s and 18X295s on my MKs.

You want to keep the rolling diameters almost the same front to back, probably within 3-5% so that ABS/ ASC works properly.

Do you happen to have the ET / offset for the rears and the fronts on the 20s?

Now you are giving me ideas

You're running 275 & 245 tires with the SAME profile? Not unless your traction control is broken, that combo creates too much difference in tire circumference.

KB warrior? Who the heck are you?
All I'm doing is pointing out false information. No, that combo will not work. 275/30 & 245/35 will, 275/40 & 245/35 will , but what you actually wrote will not. Maybe you mistyped?

I have 245/35 fronts, and 275/35 rears, and have no problems with the DSC on my 97. It was suggested that I would, but I have experienced no issues. I was prepared to disable that garbage if I did, since there is no need for it with the power an 8 has. JMHO of course.

275 35 look like small size tyres for 12j rim
I can even go 295 35 still no issues
I know e31 with some insane setups still no issues. You stay in your box scared

I think you’re missing cartoonz point. Just because you “can” do something doesn’t make it right or smart. Keeping the front and rear rolling diameter within 3-5% of each other is the correct way to do it. Frankly, the mis-sized tires on your car may “work”, but they don’t even look good.

My intent was to discuss my experience with my wheel and tire package. I certainly have no interest in what ever this became. I don't care for the stretched/stanced fitment, but I think the wheels and tires on the pink/purple car look good.

pretty sure 3% is the threshold, anything above that triggers the traction control, etc.
the 245 / 275 combo in the same profile is ~3.4%... while you might get away with it on some cars, you won't on others - by design. it is stretching the tolerance
burn off the tread on the rears and then replace just the rears without renewing the fronts and see what happens...
