    you didn't use any of the stock radio wiring, right? e30s are run a little weird, especially if they have a stock amp. brown is ground, not black

    Yes, but I traced all the wires with the EWD. Sounds fine coming out of the new headunit. I did learn that the amp used was not a full range amp, so replacing that should fix it.

    I tried troubleshooting my long start today. It happens hot or cold. I'm suspecting one of my "new" injectors is leaking, but I am not convinced it isn't an FPR-related issue. I pulled the vac hose, didn't make much of a difference while starting.
    I fell into a complete $150 m52 lol, with all the ancillaries. So, that might be a thing this summer.

    "Oh man that should" meaning pulling the FPR vac hose SHOULD make a difference? Does this point to the FPR being bad? Or injectors? I was thinking that nothing changed when pulling the vac line on the FPR means that the FPR is going out.

    Yes, I have a long road ahead of me. I'm planning on finishing up fixing all the suspension issues and braking issues, which will be a bit of $$ and time:

    * Swap coilovers
    * Replace rear wheel bearings
    * Replace front wheel bearings/hubs
    * Replace front discs
    * Replace front pads

    Then begin purchasing parts for the m52 swap. I plan to go OBD-I which will be interesting.

    * Purchase VW Jetta booster
    * Purchase m50 oil pan and pickup, along with gasket
    * Purchase m50 fuel rail
    * Purchase m50 intake
    * Purchase e30 brown top temp sensor
    * Purchase electric fan kit + brackets.
    * Purchase headgasket kit

    The m52 is an unknown milage, blown head gasket engine from a buddy locally. m52b28. I figure if its REALLY bad I could rebuild or part it, since for $150 I'm receiving the ancillaries, minus alternator, harness, and ECU.

    Sorry, I meant the swap should be fun but now that I see it's got a blown head gasket, maybe not so much fun.

    The long start, I am not sure. I feel like e30s always take a few seconds to catch, like a renix jeep cherokee. It's like the ecu is collecting all the info before firing it.

    Some take longer though, like when the pump is not holding pressure when off or you have a slight leak.

    To test the for, pull the hose at the intake side and suck on it. Cover the end with your tongue and if it holds to your tongue, it's not leaking. Also, yours is a 3 bar, not a 2 bar, right?

    Yeah, I decided to not chase this issue/waste time since I got my M52 pulled. Throwing time and money at the M20 frankenstein is just not a wise plan.

    Pulled it in an hour forty-five. The coolant that came out was really clean. Same with the oil. Not sure where the blown HG notion came from. Still gonna pull everything apart, clean, paint, reseal, etc.

    Well the m52 swap is alive and well. I documented everything on R3v because that’s where the 24v swap people seem to gravitate to.

    https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/for...52-budget-swap

    Still a bunch of odds and ends to wrap up. I’ll try to post more general stuff about my e30 here, but I’m probably gonna start a webpage about the why, how, etc as a longer summation of my r3v post.

    Well a week after getting the Transmission crossmember sorted, this happens:

    Still working with insurance but the lady that hit me had no license, no insurance, etc. very awesome (/s).

    Likely totaled, even with no frame damage (somehow).
    Shock towers were not moved, frame straight. Engine runs. Just very bad cosmetically. Radiator also munched.

    Extremely frustrating to see 6+ months work wasted. Not to mention all the ramen I ate and extra hours at work to afford swapping this car. All because someone didn’t look both ways before pulling into my lane.
