Hello!
I知 about to join the family, but I have some questions first.
I知 looking at CPO F30s (2016) to replace my current commuter car. I drive 20-25,000 miles a year, mostly commuting through secondary roads (the kind with 55mph speed limit). I知 looking for a reliable, no problems, lasting engine. And my questions are:
- which trim will be best for me? 320i or 328i?
I test-drove a 328i and it was pure joy in backroads. But the dealer had no 320i for me to drive.
- is xDrive worth it?
We hardly get two days of snow a year. Sure, we get some good amount of rain sometimes, but I致e been fine with my current non-BMW.
Thank you in advance.
Get the 328i since you enjoyed it so much. The 320i is the same car, but the motor is detuned by about 60 hp.
Don't bother with the xdrive unless you get heavy snow.

You're missing the 328d (diesel). The engine lasts forever, mileage (a serious consideration for you, it would seem) is much higher - at least 10 mpg. The trim level of the 328d is the same as the 328i - both a bit higher than the 320i.
