Simple green not diluted. Even before pulling the motor people commented how clean my engine bay was. I guess I’m just a clean freak? Or I have no life scrubbing for literally hours as a time. Maybe both!

It's awesome. Amazingly sticky and conforms great to any surface while providing heat protection.

Installed my gauges. Had to fine tune the fit in typical MKAH fashion. Gauge holes were tight and I had to use a whirly bird deburring tool to open them up. And then the curve on the driver side needed some massaging to fit in the dash hole. And lastly, the pre-drilled hole at the top was no where near hitting the backing plate let alone the pre-tapped hole in the plate. But still a nice piece and I would not have been able to duplicate myself. The mounting brackets that attach behind the dash were worth it themselves.

First time I've ever bought or installed aftermarket gauges. Hopefully I actually glance at them. These are the basic air-core electric sender versions. They do not have a tell tale and they do not have any sort of warning light.

Question... see that support piece on the bottom right. Do you race dash types keep that? It's kinda flimsy but at the same time must offer some support. But I have a feeling it was mainly to give the OBC frame a place to mount to.

I've just learned that I never look at gauges more than 3 times per session. LOL. I *must* have big bright warning lights up and high in front of me (AiM display).
I have a piece at the bottom/right, but it's needed for my switch panel mounted down there. If I had your setup, I'd toss that piece and see if your gauges vibrate too much to read.

    Your setup looks good!

True! And whatever you buy, you wish you'd bought the next version up, or down. I know. LOL

That said, their recent PDM stuff looks really interesting. But their entry prices are a bit misleading, cause they don't include any harnesses, etc. So costs add up quick. Still, I'm considering one.

Extended the battery cables. 2/0 and 8ga were equivalent to the 70mm^2 and 6mm^2 listed on the ETM but are actually larger compared to what was in the car. Super impressed with batterycablesusa.com for price, quality, and local to me in Louisville, KY for same day pick-up.

Does undiluted Simple Green remove that yellow wax like coating that the BMW factory puts on in the engine bay? I even tried wax and grease remover and that didn't touch it.

I think you're right. I've heard it called that before. Wonder how the wife is going to feel about me taking her steam cleaner out to the garage?

First, bring greasy cosmolined parts into house and put in dishwasher.

Now that the motor is back in the car... figured it was time to continue with this thread.

Got the euro coolant tank piped up. I ended up cutting up the OEM BMW hoses (new ones of course). Ended up with only (2) couplings instead of (3) if I had used straight sections with some pre molded 90deg pieces and such. Routed basically the same way the original hose was except behind the head.

The lack of dirt, grunge, oil, leaves, and rats nests just pisses me off.

Redid the location of the oil pressure sender. I snapped one of the ports on the charcoal canister... deleted. Nice new home for the sender.

Also mounted the accusump. However, I have a sinking feeling that I might be doing this again. The bumper cover is in storage so I mounted based on other peoples photos of intercooler installations. Seems that so long as I stay behind the bumper shocks it should fit. I can always bend the brackets to get it closer to the radiator if need be by an inch or so.

I'm curious, what was your reasoning for an Accusump over say an Euro/S54 pan?

A few reasons. At the time, I couldn’t find an S54 setup except off eBay. Then there was the issue of having to upgrade the pump. But I was still all for the S54 setup.

Then my engine builder said Accusump. And aeronaut said he still had lifter tick with the S54 setup and upgraded pump.

Researching the rally road cap... apparently they flow better than the S54 setup in regards to an oil cooler. But that might just be marketing.

All in the accusump was about half the price. $700 with the RR cap. Still need to buy hose and fittings though.

Seems like a great job mounting, wish I was that skilled at fabrication!

I love my accusump and find it strange it's not more prevalent in the BMW community considering the cost.

    Yea, nice job.

Yep, I had lifter tic even after installing the s54 pan and VAC pump. Changing to 5w50 oil, and overfilling a touch (1/2 qt or less), fixed all problems, so overall I'm happy. I do see 1.4 lateral G sustained, and on one turn, 1.6 lateral Gs sustained. So.

I'm sure you'll be happy with the accusump, especially if you get the install done for under $1k.

The only thing I'm not crazy about is adding 10lbs at the very tip of the nose on this car. In the interest of sharing information...

    Accusump 3qt $255
    Accusump electric remote valve $186
    Accusump mounting clamps $24
Rally Road cap $239 (I think I got it for less on black friday)
    AN hose and fittings ~$100
Misc bracket material and hardware $15

    $819 total.
