    No start N62 motor

    Hello all,
This is for an 04 E53, but has the same specs/motor as the E60, etc. I recently replaced my motor. This has been a project vehicle and it started 6 months ago. Battery disconnected, old engine removed and replaced. Went to do first crank over the other day and all lights on, no crank. All fuses are good, starter is fine(tested it) but can't get engine to crank with key. Pulled these codes today. Any help in diagnoses would be appreciated. IMG_0854.jpg

Looks like the PT-CAN is down somehow. Disconnected, missing ground, missing power, could be anything since you had the motor out.

White, Thanks for taking the time to respond. Can you please explain about "PT-CAN" and what that is? I tried to be very careful on connecting all wires that were disconnected. And I don't have any "extra" ones hanging out! But, obviously there is something not talking to the DME and I need to get to bottom of it. Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks

CAN is car access network. Basically the data lines that the modules communicate over. PT-CAN is power train. There are also multiple K-CAN's which are body module networks. Something isn't hooked up right somewhere because nothing works and you can't talk to the DME.

Wanted to close out this thread with a solution to my problem. After more diagnoses, I looked at the IVM module and had a couple of plugs corroded and pins disintegrated. I bought a new one and the car is up and running now. The IVM controls many many systems so always take a look at them!
