Z3 to F Prepared autocross

I am debating adding a cheap roll bar to the Z3. I am on a pretty limited budget due to the GRM $2K challenge. It sounds like the cheap solution is to find a cheap prebent bar and cut off the parts I don't need. I am a novice at welding and I don't trust myself to do safety critical components. Before I ask a friend to help, I need a plan. Are there any pictures out there that show how others have done this? My searches have led me down a rabbit hole of broken links and sites that no longer exist. I am specifically concerned about the fuel tank just below the rear deck.

I would recommend looking at Hard Dog. I retrofitted factory roll hoops into a 1996 Z3 almost 20 years ago here but, that will provide less safety and cost more.
