It keeps you from accidentally pushing into Reverse when going from 3 (or greater) into 2nd.
And when I'm going from 3->2, it's usually frantic.
I'm still happy with my RTD. A few things:
I got rid of a home made rubber gasket that I couldn't prevent from causing binding, and just went with a racequip shifter boot.
It's a bit of a PITA tightening the mounting bolts/screws, they are not captured.
Here's another one to consider, but it doesn't seem to have true reverse lockout (they mention something about adjustable reverse travel stop.) Might be worth searching for reviews. Morehead Speedworks is a reputable place, and they seem to either love the shifter or the slice of the profits they're getting.

Thread bump... For those that went with RTD, did you get the dssr too?
I already had someone else's DSSR. OEM with fresh bushings etc, is just fine.
I’m setting up a GB. See GB section
I have a PSDesigns without reverse lockout. Never looked back.
All of the shifters that have been talked about here are great with only minor details separating them.
I can't recall when I last missed a shift.

Yea, my RTD is just fine. In a perfect world, 5th would have a little less resistance going right in the "H", and I'd have reverse lock out.
The AAF shifter is different enough it might be different in a good way, but I'm not going to pay $1200 to not like it.

Geez. I thought the gb would attract dozens. What did I do wrong. Grrrrr. I’d want to save 15-20%…..especially since prices have increased over the yrs

Took me a while to figure out what GB is.
As for the boot I took the stock boot trimmed the top and installed it upside down.
