Hey everyone:
I just installed an AWE mid pipe on my N26 328i XDrive. This eliminated the second, unmonitored catalytic converter. The car seems to hesitate off the line and may have lost some low-end power.
From my days of import modification, I had the same experience on a turbo Mazda I used to have. Back then, after I installed a midpipe I disconnected the battery, waited at least an hour, then reconnected. The ECU would be reset and go into learning mode. This would result in an adjustment to the timing/fuel and smoothed out any hesitation or other issues due to the new modification.
Is there a similar process with the F30? Do I need to use software? Do I even need to reset it or will the computer adjust on its own after a while?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
If anything changes, the computer will adapt on it's own.
What's likely happened is since you removed a restriction in the exhaust, you've decreased backpressure in the engine. Some backpressure is needed, so you may have lost a little hp/torque on the low end.
