Hi all. I have sn 05 525i that has a hard downshift from 2nd to 1st and also likes to miss the gear between 4 and 5. Im getting ready after research on this forum to replace the sleeves, solenoids, fluid and filter. I can't find the seal for the solenoids that I hear others talk about. Does anyone know what it's called or have a part number?
Also does this sound like the correct thing to do with the symptoms i explained?
Thank you!
The seals go between the valve body and the case, four rubber sleeves and a double square rubber block thing. It would be interesting to know why the adaption values are because if ther over or under 300 internally the trans could be toast. You can read the numbers with an autologic or Ista
I can't post the pic of the adaptations but some are zero and one is in the negatives and one is over 300.
Are there any other options for tranny fluid besides zf life guard?
Certainly there are they just have to meet specifications
Ok I got the new shift solenoids today and they are brown and green.... not yellow and blue. Did I get the wrong ones?
I have no idea, I've never dealt with the solinods or had a tech who wanted to

Thank you all i replaced all solenoids and seals and of course pan/filter. All is good now!! So excited.
Ok about 6 days in the tranny now feels like it's confused about what gear it wants or like the TC is locking and unlocking. Any ideas or where or what to check? All others issue's have been fixed no codes on this issue.
No codes. And we did check for leaks as well as check the fluid level. I purchased another set of solenoids and seals. I will update once I swap them out.
So i tired the new seals and solenoids today and reset adaptations did not fix the issue.....
Update... after about 3 days of driving it has stopped the issue. Im thinking either it took that long for the tranny to reset or it may be I used different fluid this time. The first time I used petosin. If that's how you spell it and this time I used fluid from a dealer that they say is compatible.
