I have done my search and I know there are a lot of info, some fake, some inaccurate but I have come to an conclusion that it has to be done by BMW or a lockswmith who is equipped.
So, if I purchased a $15 key fob (with electronic and it is 315Mhz) from amazon, and I have a Autel MaxiCOM, can I do it? I tried and the interface is quite confusing...

If you have done it or know it could or could not be done, please share the info and how.

No, it cannot be done. Getting a key from the dealership is the only way.

Ok. Autel MaxiCOM has some functionality for it. What exactly can MaxiCOM do? Or can anything Autel product do it? White94RX, not to be disrespect, BMW price is just a joke. If I spend $500 for a key, I would rather spend $800 on a tool that does it, then I keep the tool.

I know some locksmiths can do it as long as they have the right tool.

However, this posting by Mashman captures the theory:

If your dealer is charging $500 for an E90 key, they are ripping you off. I don't even know that we charge half of that.

I've read stories of people throwing money away on tools and eBay keys that they never get to work. A dealership key is a guarantee. Just gotta find one that won't rip you off for it.

I paid $300 for a new fob from dealer for the base key but i was unwilling to pay another $150 for the comfort access programming. I was able to use a maxidas to make comfort access work for the fob. Hope that helps. Fyi. 2007 335i e90. Good luck.

Did you use a MaxiDAS DS708? Don't suppose you have specifics of the process? Thanks!
    Are you gonna eat that?

It was an 808 or 909?? You enter car settings . You identify the comfort access fobs. Each has a number you have to read in the slot. Will only allow 2 active fobs. In my case i enabled fob 3 and disabled fob 2.

People around me are advertising BMW key programming on Facebook marketplace. I know they just have an Autel or some like computer and they know how to do it.
