As the title says, my rear sunshade is stuck in the high (drawn up?) position, which is not perfect for driving in the night. When I press the button, it moves may be 5 degrees and gets stuck. The side window shades work fine. I assume they are run by separate motors.
Is there a manual way to bring the shades down. I don't need it to work like before. I don't have the guts to go to the dealership, I'm guessing the bill would be another couple thousand $$ for this.
Get someone to press the button while you gently "encourage" the shade to go into its down position. The tracks are probably just getting stuck. You may be able to lubricate them and bring it back to working status.

Hi - new to Bimmerforums. I have a 2013 750Li Imperial Blue Metallic (love it). Driving up to Massachusetts from NYC today and was playing with the rear shade (unnecessarily) and it got stuck. Read a few posts and had my wife hit the button while I gently pushed in the two “rods” I guess in towards each other. The shade went right down. Don’t push the actual shade down or it might cause more damage. I didn’t try to put it up/down again for now. Just happy it’s down. Will try tomorrow but this method looks like an easy way to fix when stuck. Hope this helps.
It would help if you still went to your local car mechanic because your safety depends on the quality and comfort of your driving. It might take a few hundred dollars to solve your problem, but you won't be wasting your time and stressing about it. I have never had this problem because my car has no automatic shades. I got magnetic sunshades from https://snapshades.com/ because they are easy to remove or install. Apart from sun protection, I use them as mosquito nets.
