Is that a standard rear bash bar setup in FD now? There are 3 total right? And do they all pivot?

AFAIk, it's pretty standard. Anything specific you talking about?

Yeah, I mean I assumed that there would be a normal rear bash bar like a lot of drift cars. You know, some bent tubing and a jack point. NovaBlue454’s rear bash bar setup looks like it is designed for going deep into outside zones. There is nothing there that a wall could easily catch a hold of and end a day of competition.

Regular bash bars are on cars with all the factory metal. Fd cars have all that cut out. Most usually do rounded corners and hinges to keep the evergy from getting to the fuel cell or rad. Rtr used to have a dual bar system but the aluminum front bar got outlawed.

But yes. Most have as much crumple zone as possible while not letting it hit vitals. They are also designed to be quick to replace.

I didn't think about all of the factory metal being cut away on a FD car.

I'd say the concept is pretty standard, but the ways of achieving it differ. There are rules about construction materials, sizing, mounting, and all that so we try to make it as modular and useful as we can within the rules. Chelsea used to have a crazy setup using coil overs so it would actually absorb impact but spring back in to place. If you follow pro2 you might recall us smoking the wall pretty good on entry at FDSEA, it crumpled the outer bar pretty decent but no other damage happened and a new one bolted right back on.

Worth noting that Chelsea's bash bar setup was outlawed within the season. It was also a decent way to promote BC coils.

What size tubing/wall thickness did you use for the bash bars? What about the rectangle section.

I didn't see that happen, but I can imagine that it's a hell of a lot of force. Man, if I had been on here when FD kicked off this year I would have followed pro2 like I did the pro1 season.

    The rectangle is .120 wall, 2 1" x 1.5 rectangles stacked and stitched to make a 1" x 3" .120 rectangle with a .240 seam down the middle basically.

The tubing is 1.5" .095 round, leftovers from cages.

Yep. 23:45. I had to watch it several times. I was looking at the 3,2,1 cones for initiating. Is the last cone just the wall instead??? After a couple of times watching, I got a feeling of how ballsy it must be initiating up high, towards that wall. Amazing save.

The one cone is sitting on the wall against the red sign, right where the paint goes from blue to white, basically exactly where he touched the wall. You can see it a little easier on the in-car view.
