Hi!
I purchased my 2011 550i in January, not knowing much about it. Soon after, the oil issues started. I was putting a quart of oil in every 500-700 miles. Took it to the dealership and BMW approved a complete valve stem seal and oil separator replacement under the CCP for the N63 engine. Received my car back and immediately received the drivetrain malfunction error upon accelerating. Had the codes read at Advanced Auto and there was a misfire in cylinder 5. Took my car back to dealership and had all spark plugs replaced. A few days later, same thing happened upon acceleration. Took my car back to dealership, they ran a full diagnostics and said it was a fluke misfire. Driving last night, and at about 60 mph the drivetrain malfunction message comes on again! My car shakes and drives horribly anytime I receive this message until I can turn it off and on again. Any ideas why this is happening and why dealership can’t diagnose issue? Are the N63s worth the hassle? Starting to think about trading in. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

The dealer needs to figure out what's wrong and I hope your not paying them since it happened right after the repair
Take it back and let them fix it.

Hi I have a 2011 550i GT too with the same oil consumption problem. Mine is at the dealership right now and they are doing the oil consumption test. What program from BMW did they offer to you to allow them to replace all the valve stem seals? I have heard that BMW is performing this service all the way up to 131K miles, but my SA is saying 120K miles is the cutoff. Do you have an info to share on this? (My car is at 131K miles right now)
Marc
I believe you are over the mileage limit.

Thanks, you may be right...
Crappy design BMW should be embarrassed
Everything you described on your 2011 is happening on my 2012 550i GT Msport. Until they checked it out for the misfires that were only listed on cylinder 4 (replacing all the spark plugs per my request, oil consumption wasn't an issue, but afterward it went through 3/4 of it's payload during the one tank of gas I put in after getting it back. Then, just after refilling the tank, it misfired again on cylinders 1, 3, and 4, cutting off ignition, but restarting and clearing the codes instantaneously instead of waiting the usual few minutes for our bimmers. Considering they said they switched out the coils, tested it over the course of 40 miles between 3 techs, and got no new messages before resetting everything.... well shit, you would figure that it would have come back better than ever. Here's the pics of the error codes this time.
Sorry the pics were angled... found that out the second I got to work and it popped up on my phone...lol
