power fold up M5 mirrors on 540 without power folding?

    hey guys...

i'm wondering if its possible to retrofit the folding M5 mirrors onto a 540 that doesnt have power folding mirrors and how complicated is it? is it all plug and play?

    Thanks...

i think the wiring harnesses would be different because of the the folding mechanism. i'm not sure how to do it but i'm sure its doable. good luck

it shouldn't be too tough. you will need a new driver's side window switch unit (M5) and passenger door controller (M5) - its NOT the window switch; it is INSIDE the front passenger door panel which looks like a Black Box where your mirror connectors attach.

    part #s

    61-31-6-909-903 (M5 driver's window switch unit)
    61-35-6-904-243 (M5 passenger's door controller)

i think those are the right part numbers and all you need for this install. with these parts it should be plug and play. question for you: are these OEM M5 mirrors of knockoffs? the OEM mirrors also have an autodimming feature that can be activated via a few more headaches if you're interested.

heres the link to the install page for the auto dimming mirrors:

see for yourself and decide if it's worth it and report back to us. do you have the mirrors? if so where did you get them? if not where do you plan on getting them?
