E39 530d selflevel susp. Inactive. (Not a leaky bag)

    Hey,

Got myself an error in my dash that my rear suspension is inactive. Got 2003 e39 530d with sports suspension. That happened one morning when there were few minus degrees. Window washer fuel was also low and it gave that error in german and with gong. After i filled it up, that error was gone.(my car is english language, so gong after every minute and in german language error was weird, tho dont know if related issue).

So basically that suspension error comes randomly. Sometimes it will be gone when i start car again. Sometimes i can drive 100km without it.

Bags are changed few months ago. One sports, one usual (ppl say that no difference between those but who knows).

When the error isnt there and i sit in the trunk, the compressor starts to work and car raises to compensate my weight. Also what i noticed, music has a millisecond stop or like scrambled sound when that error comes in dash. Inpa also shows that there is a fault code for radio. Fault in aerial power supply. (Also not sure if connected issue).

Im not very pro with inpa but fault codes i can read. There were none except the radio one. Even when the error were in dash, inpa didnt show nothing. Also checked ride height sensor voltages via inpa. Both were similar (car wasnt on a level ground). And those numbers changed while buddy sitted to trunk. It also showed that EHC Ecu is working.

Also while that error is active and i have parklights+foglights on. Then car turns on xenons and headlights start to move up and down, like when you start a car and automatic level headlights do.

No changes in driving while the error is active. Car height stays the same.

Probably gotta visit a car diagnostic man. But maybe someone had a similar problem and can give some info or suggestions.

Have you checked to see if there is any corrosion in the level sensor connectors.
You may have a bad ground connection from the ground shoes to the body. Have you checked all of them?

Thanks for the tips. Will check connectors next week. And will read that voltage drop article again. Electricity is not my good side but ill give it a shot.

Edit: just mentioning that starter is 2 years old. Battery is 1 year old and alternator is 6 months old. And car starts fine. But you go***** interested on a subject.

Car was calm few days. No errors or issues but this morning started acting up again. Now i think suspension error is a result not cause.

This morning right when i unlocked car front lights started to " party" flicker, move up and down etc. Even fog lights. Key was not in ignotion and car not runnig. So safe to eliminate the alternator issues. When i started car, inside lights started to flick too. Radio also acting up.

Issue resolved. Lights Module (LCM IV B) was faulty. Can be closed, thanks for your thoughts.

Bought a module from scrapyard. Looked with newest part number for my car. Scrapyard lied and sent me some older model (that still fits to my car. But HW and SW numbers were way lower than module i had). They said it will work. So i had it coded and it worked but not the way i wanted..lights moved slow up and down when starting. Lights beam was headed way down etc (maybe could been adjusted).

Anyway i sent it back and bought another one from bmw x5 with same hardware and newer software number, had it coded again and all as i wanted. Working perfectly.
