Hey guys,
I thought I had ordered the right roof racks at BMW today. However, they turned out to be sedan racks. I see that the correct part no. is 82710415055, but it's a discontinued item. My parts guy and I are trying to see if any other model rack would fit the touring. Any recommendations? I'd like to stick with oem racks since I also got the bike rack attachment.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Based on my search, I read that the e46 touring roof rack should work.

Hello - take a look at the link below; I believe we carry a roof rack that would work for you.

Looks like you've got a great source from Pelican and you said you would prefer OEM racks but as another option:
the Thule 450 series rack fits excellent. I just got the 45050 Crossroad foot, rail (50" crossbars) and lock package along with their SUP board carriers and its GREAT!

I can not comment on the E46 racks but if the bike rack mounts like my MINI (by BMW) bike rack mounts it is with in the T-Slot on the top of the bar. If that is the case then check out the video at this link.

BTW Thule manufactured the MINI/BMW cross bars for many years.

Yeah the oem E39 bars aren't the quietest but they are semi aero and "not too bad". For the E39 there is a front and rear bar and you want to get them right, the front one has little laminar flow tabs on the bottom I think to increase the aero.
And just about any "slot mount" accessory and rack is compatible. I use rockymount attachments on the oem bars. Could use any mainstream slot mounters I think.
Key tip - just figured this out recently. You can buy the OEM rubber insert strips cheap for now. Of course they'll prob go up to $47 each before being discontinued but now they aren't bad. It's nice to have 2 or 3 sets so you can cut them up. I have a set cut for my 2 bike racks, then a set cut for my ski rack, then an uncut long set for toting boards or furniture or whatever.

Yeah, the Rocky Mount works as well. I started from the middle and slid the front ones forward. The rear ones went right in and sunroof is still usable.

Yeah I try to put the fronts back so they have least sunroof interaction possible. Works pretty well but it's always a good bit noisier now w the roof open. No way around that tho.

Good to know they work. I haven't gotten around to ordering them yet, but I have the bike attachments and the OEM basket sitting at the shop
After I removed the roof rails, by the way it looks great, the roof still has those welded nuts on place to accept a roof rack and the filler strips for the roof have the flip up doors
