    New Subject:
So, to increase your lift to 11mm from 10.5mm you process a coating (low friction type) onto your rollers, thickness 0.5mm or a little over 0.020 thousanths of an inch. You'll need to take the same amount off the back of the sintered lobe of the cams. That's 180°s from lobe apex on each lobe. A machinist will understand 0.000"--> 0.020" --> 0.000" off the back.
pretty sure that'd put way more than 11mm of actual valve lift...

    Had a 1991 BMW 850

    Valve Lift

Likely Cheaper and easier to get more valve lift with Shrick Cams or a custom Grind

Metal is added to a camshaft or crankshaft with a process called spray welding.

It's been a while since I made any progress but I am slowely emptying the engine bay.

Here are the remains of the AC drying canister and the firewall heat/sound insulation...

Stripped, primed and painted the steering oil carrier is good as new again. The filter was completely shot so I will have to find a replacement filter.

Just FYI... the OEM firewall / tunnel insulation is available still from BMW. Not obscenely priced either

Took out the brake master cylinder. Dirt, oil and a bit of rust. The tank was full of sludge but after plenty of rinsing and a few rounds in the ultrasonic cleaner it is looking good.

The bracket looked as if it had originally been black but it wasn't painted so i zink plated it black.

The valve seals look ok but if you know of a rebuild kit please let me know.

Also blasted and plated the heat shields and fasteners on the right hand side of the engine bay.

Nice!! Did you do the plating yourself? And if so, please share a few details.

Yes, I bought a plating kit from https://classic-plating.co.uk/ and it's good fun the kit is great but the instructions could be better.

I short my process is: blasting, degreasing, acid bath, plate for about 30 minutes, acid bath then passivate to get silver/gold/black finish. Rinse in water between all steps.

Both air collectors had big holes from wear and almost every mounting hole on the plastic wheel arches were cracked.

Bought a piece of bmw plastic at the wrecker's and welded it up reinforced with aluminium mesh.

Not beautiful but mended and the results did get better with practice.

The abs pump was in a sorry state, motor was rusted solid and beyond repair.

I grabbed a nice complete unit from an E39 (same unit only different bracket), replaced the cracked positive lead and cleaned it up as best i could.

    Tested motor and all solenoids.

Found this bundle of joy under the dash. The hight of 90s aftermarket alarm that leaches into everything.

    Straight in the bin!
