I am looking buying a '12 128i from a friend of mine. It is a base coupe with few options and has 110k miles and he is asking $5500 for it. I just took it for a test drive and a couple of things:
While driving on the interstate I very gently push the brake pedal and the streering wheel oscillates back and forth. When I press harder it goes away. I realize that the rotors might need to turned or replaced. Anything else I should be concerned with regarding the brakes?
The A/C system seems to not operate properly in the Auto setting. It runs for several minutes and then switches to the defrost vents, when I manually select the main vents it blows out of the main vents until I select auto and the cycle repeats. Is this a common problem?
The base stereo does not seem to have Bluetooth capability. Is this correct?
Any other items I should look at or be aware of?
Thanks in advance,
Bob
Never buy a used car without it undergoing a pre-purchase inspect performed by a reputable indie shop that specializes in bimmers. Go to www.bimrs.org to find a shop in your area. There. No such thing as a cheap BMW.
