So my 97 auto m3 is having a issue. When I'm in sport mode and step on it the transmission light comes on and I get code p0732. When it goes from 2nd to 3rd the rpms will jump to 3k. The rpm jump happens in both sport and economy mode. From what I've read about the code it's a shift solenoid but I can't find a diy on how to do it. Fluid and filter were changed 2k miles ago when the motor was getting rebuilt.

The transmission you have is a Zf5hp19. Unfortunately the shift solenoids are on backorder with no ETA. I don't think they are going to make more. There are lots of rebuild kits, and even rebuilt units which aren't ideal, but I've had great success with rebuilt units.
These are for a ZF5HP19, but an M3 isn't listed, but I believe they are the correct solenoids.

The procedure is pretty straight forward, but messy. It looks like you should be able to test and remove/replace the solenoids with the valve body still attached.

You need to try to be as clean as possible while doing this. Don't get any dirt or debris in the unit. Also wear gloves and face protection. ATF is nasty stuff, and splashes really easily.
I should note, Gary is the greatest source of information I've seen on any of the ZF transmissions:

Also, amazingly enough if you contact ZF directly, an engineer will get back to you within 24 hours.

They really are awesome.
What fluid did you use?

It is a 5HP18, not 19. That's why M3 is not listed.

solenoid valves usually do not break. The 5HP18 has problems with the small plastic balls which get smaller and smaller and then disappear, solenoid valves you disassemble, clean + polish the pistons and measure them and then they work again.
Remove the valve body and overhaul it, here are plenty of pics and German language instructions which you can translate with google https://forum.e34.de/thread.php?threadid=208602
Get a valve body repair kit based on the name tag on the transmission, serial number, ZF type and the ZF parts number, Eriksson is a good source.

here are the instructions where goes what and the data for testing the solenoids

Thanks everyone for the input. A little update the transmission stopped revving between gears and the incorrect gear ratio has switched from 2nd to 4th and randomly throws a torque converter code. I'm guessing it's getting close to the time to do a 5speed swap.
