Hello.
I'm 52. I live in Central Ohio. I've owned quiet a few cars in my life, and I do almost all the maintenance on them.
So for the first time in my life I have purchased a "nice" car: a silver 2006 Z4 3.0si. It is in very good shape; almost like new.
It seems to drive well, though the steering will take some time to get used to. I am wondering what I should do or check first.
If it has run flat tires, get rid of them and that will take care of most of the steering problem.

I am not sure what the fronts are, but it currently has Lionhart 255/35ZR18's in the rear. The previous owner said, "I have not been happy with these Lionhart tires. And you probably won't be happy with them, too. If I were you I would replace them with a better tire."
Ditch the offbrand tires for sure. Good set of Michelins/Bridgestones/Sumitomos will make the car ride much nicer.

Tires I've had good luck with is the Continental Extreme Contacts.
Those are great tires. I have the earlier Extreme Contact DWs on a Mustang that I use for track days. I can say they are the ONLY tire I've ever felt comfortable with on that car in the rain. I don't know how they will wear for every day use but I have a couple of track days and a few thousand street miles on them and no signs of wear yet.
I installed Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's and love them.
I bought my '07 3.0si Roadster, manual trans, with the sport pkg last year. It had 74k miles. The first thing I did was have it inspected by a specialist in my area. All of the mechanicals and suspension parts checked out. They have a reputation for breaking rear coil springs. I changed out all of the fluids and filters and did a fuel injection cleaning service. Other than that, all I have done is drive it with a huge smile on my face! Consider joining an area club and attending some driver's education schools at Mid Ohio Track. Last time I went there, it rained the second day the new tires performed wonderfully.
Congratulations!

I have Sumitomo staggered tires on my 2.5 after swapping from 16's with Sumitomo. I found them to be good moderately priced tires .
So if you guys had to do it again, would a Z3m be a the ultimate choice? They are almost twice the price where I live. Thinking of a Z3 roadster....
Actually, my "ultimate" choice would be an M2 competition My choice in the Z platform would be an E86 M Coupe, but the E86 3.0 si is much more livable on a daily basis. Much more flexible engine, less fussy to maintain.

I would love to be able to afford a Z8. I like to be different and think they are gorgeous.
Aye
Back in 2002 i told my BIL to get one but he had his heart set on a Merc AMGc55 (I think?? Whatever the large 2 seater convertible was)
He didn't listen to me and still has his AMG with only 7k miles. He kicks himself as if he got the Z8 the car wpuld have been an investment considering how little he drives it
