Hi,
I'm considering of getting a nice clean E30 convertible for weekend cruise around town. What would be a fair market price for a nice clean used one? I saw a few posting via CL and Cars.com that has a wide range on asking price...example:

https://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/d...965456320.html

Thanks in advance for your reply.

That $8-10k range for a clean convertible is probably about right. Below that and you'll like need to deal with a few significant issues. Above that and if it's not an exceptional car, the seller is probably smoking crack. Seller's tend to attach too much importance to low miles. But a 30 year old car is still going to need expensive rubber bits replaced. However if you search you'll likely find a nice one for well below $8k. It may just take awhile.

"Howdy, Folks!"
1986 Delphin 528e - Roof rack equipped lumber hauler.
1989 Zinnoberrot 325iX Sedan - I miss this car. (Deceased)
1998 Avus Blau 328iC - Someone else's project now
2008 Platinum-Beige X3 3.0si - Current project
2012 Alpine White X3 xDrive35i - My new snowmobile.
2020 Estoril Blue 440i xDrive cabrio - This car is a blast to drive.
you should be able to find a decent one for 5k in the Austin area. we bought our mint condition 86 325 two door for 1k from the austin area. the verts never had as high a price as the two door models and I see tons for sale for 3kish that are very nice.
there was an mtech2 in Houston for 2500 recently that looked very clean
No e30s again.
For cruising around, nothing beats an E30 convertible. Those are low mileage cars and appear to be in good condition. I don't see that they are priced too high or at least much too high. Good E30's are getting hard to find. The convertibles are usually in a lot better shape as they were not ragged out and seem to be have been serviced properly. If you have the money buy one, after checking it out. The prices are not going down!
Take a look at Bring a Trailer for pricing. My opinion is that the days of a good low mileage car for <10k are gone.
Thanks everyone for your inputs.
I bought an 88 vert last year with 100k miles and have put 10k on it in 2 seasons. I do dream of it having a manual shift but for now I'll stick with the auto. Keep that in mind. I think I got lucky and paid under $5k for it and it is in excellent shape and maintained well. Go for one with heated seats AND cruise control .
Or, you can get extremely lucky as I did and find a rust free 1990 with 160k and a lifetime of maintenance receipts for $950.00... Definitely helps to have a good buddy that flips em’.
hagerty told me last year that a rust free one is at least 12k. He valued mine at 12k with the paint issues still.
