Can anyone recommend an OBD code scanner?

The code scanner at my BMW garage gives really detailed information about faults. Can anyone recommend one to buy that doesn't cost as much as the car but gives good details on faults?

I bought a creator C310+ on Amazon, and this reads from a 1999 E39 OK. Needs the 16 to 20 pin connector as well.

Foxwell NT510 is what I have, love it! It doesn't have great directions, but make sure you get a version that has your specific BMW model already installed. I didn't see any good reviews for the PRO version, only bad. You can also add other brands of vehicles for $50-60 per brand. I got my scanner off Amazon for $175
