    Polishing a Dinan bar?

I purchased a DINAN Strut bar, The thing is pretty tarnished and one of the CF pieces is missing. But i got a awesome deal on it and was hoping to polish it and reset some carbon fiber into it. Unless its fake it Also appears someone painted in the DINAN letters.

I was thinking a wire brush drill attachment at harbour freight and a full battery would do it. Dont want it chrome but a nice brushed look would be awesome.

Not really experienced with wheels or metals in this way so any advice is awesome. Thanks!

Wire brush is really aggressive to start with. I have steel wool in the toolbox for metals like that. I use it on exhaust tips and metal pieces. You can buy it in varying levels of coarse->fine and it's relatively cheap. It'll take longer, but I'd say try steel wool first because a wire brush is extremely aggressive not to mention a drill one.

You also want a brushed look so almost no polishing is necessary. Lots of polishing will give it that chrome reflective look. A little polish to clean it is good but too much will make it shiny.

If you want a clean brushed look the wire wheel is going to be way too aggressive. The best I've seen this done is with a red scotch pad and something like wd-40 for lube. Spray the pad and hit the bar in ONE direction only with it, it's going to take a while but the results are nice.

That bar has a lot of nasty build-up on it so this probably won't be all that fun a task, good luck.
