Help - ME7.2 DME 540i M62 Boot Mode bin Dump

    Hey Guys.

Trying to get a 512kb dump off my ME7.2 ECU - I have put together a bench harness and am using JMGarageflasher to pull the .Bin File.

JMGarageflasher mentions to connect the following pins.

    POWER
    • X60001
    • PIN 1,2,7,8,9

    Ground

    • X60001
    • PIN 5,6

    K-Line
    • X60001
    • Pin 3

And ground the 8th solder point on the ciruitboard.
    as per-
    (http://jmgarage.ru/bosch-me-7-2-bootmode-programming-2/)

Doing so Doesn't allow me to Connect to the ECU!

Upon looking at the following diagram it appears I need to connect a few pins on connector x60004
    - OBD Pin 7 (K-Line) connects to X60004 Pin 32 -- Instead of suggested Pin 3?
    - OBD Pin 9 connects to X60004 Pin 17 (unsure of the function of this)

    data link obd2 e39 540i.png

The DME came from a 2001 6spd but the diagram shows something about A/T 4.4 for Pin 32.- Unsure but know that AGS isn't a thing.

So I tried it this way and I'm able to pull a BIN from the ECU if I have pin 32 connected as the K-Line ....but not if the Pin 16(OBD2) - Pin 17(X60004) is connected.

However now when I open it in Tuner Pro to check the version it comes up with Y with colons ontop (ÿ). - same with when I check INPA.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

If someone wants to hold my hand through this I'd be happy to Paypal you haha. I'm not fully inept I think I just need a little guidance - ehrm geargrinder zarbov cough.

I can help you out man shoot me a dm

when i get home i can take pics of the bench setup i use or basically how I do it in the car is to take Dme shield off and ground the boot pin with a piece of wire tack soldered to the boot pin and wrapped around a body ground

put key into ignition and then to position 2 hop out count to 5 and remove the boot pin wire from ground

go to laptop on jmgarage flasher and click connect then read

Also the UIF entries are blanked on the flash I have from DUDMD so it looks the same as what you posted

do any of your tables look proper?

Also if you took a boot dump your UIF numbers are written i THINK around 1FF80 ~~ somewhere towards the bottom fo 10000>1FFFF

The Tunerpro files are written around a 64kb dump so unless you offset the file in the tunerpro settings you wont be viewing an accurate hex region for the UIF entries

    Can't see x60002 -> Pin 23 +12v (DME Relay) in You'r setup.

Also edit xdf info parameters and make Offsett 10000 if You are using 64kbit xdf with 512kb file.

My Setup which works all time:
    x60001:
    Pin 7,8,9 = +12v
    Pin 5,6 = Ground

    x60002:
    Pin 23 = +12v (dme relay)

    x60004:
    Pin 26 = +12v (dme supply voltage)
    Pin 32 = K-Line

make sure to apply ground to bootpin and then power up dme, still with bootpin click connect @ jmgarage.

For anyone having issues getting their me7.2 into boot mode, you just need x60001 12v, gnd, k line. You need to ground the boot pin for 2-3 seconds, if you do the 5+ seconds listed elsewhere it wont work.
