    Hammer recommendations: for brake jobs

I managed to get the brake pins in using a punch and hammer in my last several brakes work.

But ... There is really not a lot of room to swing the hammer to get the punch to do its work.

What type of hammer do you use?
Or do you use any better tools to get the brake-pad pins all the way in?

Use the punch to back its out enough to fit pliers on the back of the pin and then hit the pliers never fails
