Hi,
Will try keep the story short - i have a 2010 123d, rear pads were due service so i had the pads and sensor replaced and reset the service light through the BC button, car was fine for about 2 weeks, now i have a warning light coming on and the iDrive telling me that the front AND rear pads need changing immediately and constantly have the (!) on dash. Have tried re-setting again through BC and just getting the service interval as ----- miles. Can someone please help? Have only just changed rear pads + sensor and was told the front pads had plenty on them.
Discussion moved to the model specific sub-forum.
Good luck!

Who changed the rear pads and the sensor? Was it a run of the mill shop or a shop that knows its way around a bimmer, er, beemer as you’re in the UK?
I’m thinking the mechanic screwed something up. I don’t know if the electronix needs to be told that Brahe pads have been replaced, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the engineers have over-complicated a relatively simple system.
the sensors have been changed with the pads and the service light was reset...was all okay and then the lights came on for the pads and it says both sets need changing. I'm thinking a fault with the sensor somewhere
The sensor or sensors may have been improperly installed. There are 2 pad sensors: LF and RR. Basically, the sensor is nothing more than a wire mounted in a plastic clip. The clip sits in the gap in the outer pad. When the pad wears to a specific level the insulation of the sensor wire in the clip is ground off by the rotor and the wire is grounded. This triggers the essage.
