I recently retrofitted a factory navigation to my 2003 540i. I need to complete the coding side of it, and I'm VERY rusty with NCS Expert (and Dummy). I'm familiar with reading my current ZCS from the IKE and EWS, and they are fine, I've loaded them up in Zeko to see what options they translate to... but I'm not 100% sure which option I need to add so I can generate the correct ZCS code for the navigation.
- I have a BMW Sirius module installed and working (from an '06 X3), but the IKE doesn't show the stations when I change the channels
- *fixed this*I have a SealthOne for my Valentine 1 radar, but it doesnt show the radar arrows on the Board Monitor screen
- Strangely, my speedometer stopped working when I connected the speed sensor wire to pin 3 on the white connector on the IKE (TAA signal). This pin was empty prior to my retrofit. Every diagram Ive seen on WDS shows that this pin is the signal for navigation and supposed to be a black/white wire
- I also have a fully functional M5 black-face high cluster retrofitted.. and the normal radio stations show up on the mid when changing channels.. same for the StealthOne.. so can only assume that I-Bus is functioning fine
All of these symptoms lead me to believe that coding is what I am missing.
Is it simply adding the S609A option in Zeko and programming that new SA to the car with NCS? Do I also need to add S601 or S602 with it? ... OR , is it on the "retrofit" side by adding the N0996 supplementary control ? The thing about N0996 is that it mentions being for '96 model
Any help or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.
The car currently is:
VIN : GF71837
ZCS GM : 5B530000-9
ZCS SA : 20000C900DB74534-M
ZCS VN : 101010B983-9

Update:
I applied the option for navigation and generated the new ZCS... Wrote it to the IKE with NCS, disconnected , connected PA Soft, confirmed that the IKE and EWS has a mismatch, then did the copy ZCS code option from the IKE to the EWS successfully. So the coding seems to be done, but I somehow lost the perspective view on the mk4 nav. The StealthOne now appears on the monitor screen too.
The lingering problem now is the speedo. The needle doesn't move, but the car does know that it's moving. I confirmed it by going into the IKE test functions and driving with the digital speedo on. I also saw the trip odometer counting fractions of a mile.
Is the speed sensor from the IKE to the Nav/radio needed on an '03 car? I suspect that since it was missing before my nav retrofit, that the car doesn't need it.. but I'm not sure then why the nav instructions say to connect it? Even the pinout in WDS says that it's a nav signal for speed sensor
Just remembered, perspective view on the nav had to be enabled in the hidden service menu
