My friend is selling his 2002 BMW 745i with 200,000 kilometres on it. He says he just wants it gone, and will sell it to me for $800-$1000. I test drove it and noticed the shifting is a bit rough. Would this be worth it to buy for a fun car for 2-3 months, or would it even last that long without needing major work? I don’t want to put much money into it and will sell it when I’m done with it for under $1000. What do you think?
Towed to sub forum. You will get more eyes on it here.
I have a 2002 745i, the repairs on these cars are horrible if you can do yourself, ridiculous if you need to take to a shop. I just spent $885 at the be shop for diagnosing a misfire issue and they didn’t fix anything, nor did I get a good diagnosis.
save yourself a lot of grief, don’t buy it.
from what ive read, doing a transmission fluid swap on these fixes most shifting issues, no guarantees but worth a try.
