I just got the car and didn't want the Alpine alarm messing with wiring so I cut it out. While I was cutting wires I noticed that when I cut two big white wires going to the unit I heard motors in the doors and saw locks go down. When the wires are shorted they go down but won't stay down. Were power locks standard on this model and if so where is the original button to lock them. Is that what the rectangular button next to light switch does?

Yes, on all 6 cylinder e30s. Fog lihht switch
No e30s again.
Key doesn't activate the locks, I'll take the front left speaker out and see how the wiring was hacked for the Alpine unit.
I don't have any fog lights. Where were they mounted at?

Power locks work! I sprayed some silicone lubricant in the key slot on the driver door and the power locks work just fine.

best fixes are the easy ones!!
No e30s again.
Upon getting ready to trim final wires from Alpine unit I noticed this brown with blue wire with a female plug. It looks factory but I don't see where it would go. Any idea? Everything seems to be working fine with door locks.

It could be for something that didnt come on your model, like headlight wipers or washers. I dont know, i have not had head light issues that required me to get in there
No e30s again.
