Hey guys I have a 98 bmw e39 with manual trans 523i. I am about to change the radiator since there is a lot of dye from ac system, the guy that recharged has put some in since I was loosing r134. Do I need to recharge the system after changing the radiator? If not, my system is newly charged at the moment, can I minimize the loss of refridgerant by not using it or does it not matter?
There's no need to disturb the A/C to replace the rad.
You should be able to flush the cooling system with water to get rid of the dye, although the dye should not interfere with cooling.

Are you talking about the AC condenser or the radiator?
If you're talking about the condenser then yes you'll need to have the system recharged, you can't remove the condenser and keep your AC charge. It doesn't matter if you keep using the AC or not as the entire system will need to be evacuated before you start working on it. In the US it is illegal to intentionally release refrigerants into the atmosphere.
BTW, radiator = cooling device for the engine.
Condenser = cooling device for the A/C, placed in front of the radiator.
Evaporator = device inside the dashboard that absorbs heat from the air, which is dissipated by the condenser..

Where is the condenser located? I know usually cars have 2 radiators(second one being the condenser), but I can't see the second one on e39
Condenser is the one right after the aux fan. Or like edjack said in front of the radiator.
Found it on google images, but cannot find it on realoem to figure out the part number
Found it. It's 64538378438
